Tablet Loan for Silsden residents 55+

Silsden residents aged 55+ can now loan a Samsung tablet from the Silsden Town Hall.

The tablets come with their own internet, so a wifi connection isn’t required. The project aims to support older residents to get better connected using IT, become more independent, reduce loneliness and improve confidence and wellbeing.

Free tablet training is also available to anyone who loans a tablet.

What Services Does Silsden Community Library Offer?

Children’s Activities

Come and join in with our Storytime and Rhymetime sessions for pre-school children on the first Wednesday of the month at 2pm. It is advisable to reserve a space for this session by either dropping into the library or by telephoning 01535 654131. The responsible adult must remain with their child for this event.

Bookstart Bear Club

Bookstart is the national programme that encourages all parents and carers to enjoy books with children from as early an age as possible. We do this by gifting free book packs at around 9-12 months and 4 years. There’s lots more information on the Bradford Libraries website here.

Saturday Club

On the first Saturday of the month we hold a Science Club from 10am to 11am. It is advisable to reserve a space for this session by either dropping into the library or by telephoning 01535 654131. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Chess Club

Held every Friday afternoon from 4pm – 6pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room the Chess Club is open to all ages and all abilities; complete beginners are very welcome. We have some training material, provided by Chess in Schools and Communities, which will help even the youngest to start playing the game and have fun. There is no need to book, just turn up, although those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
